Construction Update

Construction has begun on the Mama Englantine Lucy Marsh Ford Girls Dormitory at Rafiki Jesus Power Girls Boarding High School. Rafiki is truly blessed with growth and expansion of the number of children we are able to serve.

New Chapel & Visitors Center

Praise be to God!

The new Rafiki Chapel and Visitors Center were completed this month and have now become a reality. The dedication and first worship service was held on Saturday, February 19th, 2022. Reverend John Nganga celebrated his 60th birthday with the first of many worship services in the newly built Chapel. What a gift this was for him!

Thank you Short North Rotary, Rotary Club of Marietta District 6690 and all of the others that have donated to this wonderful project.

Summer Farm Update

Friends, thanks for all your prayers and support. Busy planting as we wait for the long rains. Some of our teachers have also joined us. Be blessed.

Pig Shed Expansion Project

Our team has been very busy trusting God for the ongoing work at Rafiki despite coronavirus pandemic. A lot of old projects are being rehabilitated. One of our larger projects is the expansion of the pig sheds. We now have eight (8) females and within the next several months, they will start giving birth to little ones. Please consider supporting us with any amount for this pig shed expansion project. Our budget is $2,000. In God we trust.

Rafiki family plants flowers

The Rafiki family and kids have been planting flowers during the holidays among other activities to beautify their space. Reverend John Nganga thanks everyone for all of your prayers and support.

Rafiki Bakery growing rapidly

The Rafiki Bakery has seen rapid growth recently. Together with provision for enough bread for our kids, the bakery products have now gone to local sconesmarket. Our products are now competing with other prominent companies in mini-stores and supermarkets. The team designed a new brand label which is attracting more consumers.

All plans are in place to have a variety of products. We are also intensifying marketing strategies to reach as many consumers as possible. This project has been completely subsidized the bread budget in our institution. Thanks to all who made this project possible.

Shopping trip to Bata Shoe Factory

Today was a day of celebration as the 75 kids of Rafiki Children’s Center were taken to Bata Shoes Factory to shop for late Christmas gifts from our friends, Sarah Hambley, from Columbus, OH, Rev. Marian Cavagnaro, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Rev. E. Flemister, Tampa, FL and Lauren Flemister, St. Auburn, WA. Also, in addition to a pair of shoes, every child received a pair of socks. The balance of the gifted money took care of other needs at the Center. Thank you friends for your generous gifts.

Rafiki Tailoring School to open in March

The Rafiki Tailoring School is made possible by grants from the Diocese of Southern Ohio. Plans are underway to start admitting students in March 2016. Proud of our hard working staff led by Ruth, a Rafiki graduate, and Esther. Please pray for this project to grow and impact so many kids all for the honor and glory of God. Plans to start taking orders online soon.

End of year educational trip

Rafiki Academy pupils and teachers took an end of year field trip to the game park in Nyahururu. Thanks to Rafiki drivers Ndungu and Kairie for their careful driving. John Kiarie is one of the Rafiki beneficiaries. The kids look forward to this trip every year. Thanks Rafiki sponsors and parents of the community kids for making this happen. Thank God we did not have to rent a bus, the Lord has provided using Friends of Rafiki in the USA. Join us in prayers as we trust God for another larger bus. The Academy continues to grow and with excellent academic results from 2015 pupils, we anticipate more students coming this year.

KCPE results: Rafiki students excel

The first candidates from the Rafiki Academy have done very well. Our top student got 344 marks out of 500. These are very high marks and we thank God for all the teachers and the supporting cast for all the hard work under the Head Teacher Barnard and all the board members. Watch out 2016, we are coming. Congratulations!
